our mission
Building a Connected Community
Bahala’s mission is to strengthen our collective feeling of connection by fostering community-based learning initiatives.
Our programs connect people of all ages by establishing spaces for supportive, mutually beneficial projects, pursuits and play.
Bahala’s programs range from children’s playground playdates to early career mentoring to facilitating gatherings for adults to engage in conversation, civic engagement and gardening.
Founded in May 2024 by Carlo Cabanilla, Bahala was born from a desire to create a community where individuals and organizations share innovative ideas, teach and learn from one another, and reduce isolation.
The organization is named after the Filipino phrase, "Bahala na," with one interpretation meaning “Come what may”, which could mean leaving yourself open to serendipity. As a collective, Bahala embodies the spirit of being open to what we can build, play and create together.
