Everyday Tech is where digital tools meet community connection. Through interactive learning, shared resources, and meaningful conversations, we’re helping Santa Monica residents build confidence with technology, strengthen local ties, and stay informed in a rapidly changing world.

These programs translate Bahala’s mission into hands-on experiences that foster digital confidence and safety, civic engagement, and fun. You are invited to participate at any and every level, from short daily puzzles to attending ongoing gatherings and workshops.

TECH TALKS

Our Tech Talks and in-person gatherings make learning approachable. Bahala offers professional talks on AI, online safety, digital safety and truth decay.

At our weekly Coffee & Connections we explore topics such as how tech shapes our lives and wellbeing. Civic Bites, our monthly evening series, brings speakers, activities, and appetizers together for lively discussions on tech and democracy. Students and early career professionals are invited to get involved in Student Pathways hands-on community service gigs, mentoring, and computer science internships.

We’re constantly asked to sort truth from noise. Truth Decay is one of our signature talks ongoing conversation on simple ways to recognize online manipulation and rebuild the trust that makes community possible. Take a deep breath, join Carlo and guest speakers, and walk away with tools to feel more confident, calm, and connected online and off.

Our daily puzzles and games celebrate Santa Monica’s spirit while strengthening community knowledge and participation. Sign up for SM at 150, a daily writing and art practice marking Santa Monica’s 150th anniversary. Play board games such as our Truth Decay board game that challenges misinformation. at our monthly Civic Bites meetings , and appetizers. residents can join in creative reflection and collaboration. Plus, enjoy our daily, locally-themed crosswords and word games!

Celebrate Santa Monica’s 150th with SM at 150, a daily creative prompt inspiring poems and stories from 150 characters to 150 words, and artwork . Share your piece and be part of a living portrait of our city, with selected submissions published each week on Bahala’s site and linked in our newsletter.
