Building a MORE CONNECTED Community OF FAMILIES

Bahala supports Santa Monica elementary schools in launching Playground Playdates, a program that connects preschool families with their future school community. With a toolkit and funding, schools can host informal playdates that help families meet, share resources, and get involved early.

Goals

• Build Community: Strengthen connections among families, neighbors, and schools.

• Ease Transitions: Help preschool families feel welcomed and supported before the first day of school.

• Resource Sharing: Connect families with information about schools, aftercare programs, camps, and local services.

• Encourage Engagement: Introduce PTA and volunteer opportunities early to foster strong school communities.

Bahala provides Santa Monica elementary schools with:
